WORK EXPERIENCE TESTIMONIALS

Shane O’Rourke

Shane O’Rourke,

B.Sc Work experience, and trainee

I joined O’Connor Pyne just after completing a BSc Accounting degree in University College Cork. My main duties were Bookkeeping and Accounts Preparation. There was a large variety in the work that I was doing and there was always someone on hand to help out if I was having any problems with it. Everyone was very friendly and made me feel very welcome in OCP. I learnt a lot during my time in OCP and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to gain work experience in an accounting practice.

O’Connor Pyne is a nurturing environment where students can learn and grown in a friendly atmosphere. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I received a great deal of training during my time at O’Connor Pyne and I was presented with plenty of opportunities to work in all aspects of their business such as accounts, audit, tax and payroll. I would highly recommend students to seek work experience with O’Connor Pyne for high quality hands on experience involving preparation of accounts.

Enda O'Shea

Enda O’Shea,

BBS Accounting, CIT

I joined the Audit department of O’Connor Pyne after completing a Bachelor of Business in Accounting Degree from CIT. Going into the company I didn’t know what to expect or what kind of work I would be doing but everyone in in the department, as well as everyone in OCP, made me feel very welcome and a part of their team. The experience I gained in a short space of time was brilliant and invaluable. I was given plenty of work to do in Bookkeeping, Accounts Preparation and Pack Preparation. I experienced first-hand what skills are required in completing a client’s set of accounts in a professional and timely manner. The team were always on hand to answer any questions I had and gave me a lot of help in any work I did for them.

I would highly recommend O’Connor Pyne & Co to any person looking to gain work experience in an accounting practice as what you will learn from them will be of a huge lasting benefit.

Work Experience

I started work experience at O’Connor Pyne in June 2014 after completing my third year studying Accounting in Cork Institute of Technology. I had always enjoyed the course and was interested in carrying on with the profession when I had finished but lacked the real world experience that can only be obtained in the working world. In only three months working at O’Connor Pyne I gained more experience than I ever thought, I was kept busy from the start and was lucky enough to experience working in all aspects rather than in only one area. Everyone in the office was so friendly and was always available to help out if I had any questions.

My time at O’Connor Pyne has given me a huge advantage in starting my final year at CIT and I would highly recommend it to anyone else looking to gain experience in an accounting firm.
